Making Sense - Social Conduct.

Even though, the title says “making sense” I guarantee you that what you're about to read will not.

There are a few certainties in life. Some we take for granted, and some we take very seriously, too seriously to the point where they become a raw material for humor. Now with that being said, I must admit that for sometimes I've been trapped in the sickening, rotting pit of undying love for worshiping social bull-crap. What's that, you might ask. Well, the answer is as simple as launching a rocket... Anyone with a few loose screws in their head can answer.

We humans love to believe in higher beings. Not that the hundred billion Gods that 7 billion people around the world worship aren't an obvious example... But that's beside the point. I am not aiming to write about Gods, deities, or godly creatures, and whatnot. I want to speak about one God in particular. No not Allah. Just because I am Muslim doesn't mean I have to involve my own religious input into every conversation, you stereotypical bigots! Just kidding... No, not really.

There's that one God who is the strongest of them all. The one that people just love to fear. From the beginning of civilization, when people settled in small than in large groups. One that stood above all the things that humanity has weirdly worshiped... Society.

Where are the ancient Egyptian gods? Where's Zeus and his mighty offspring? Where's the sacred fire? Where are many of the once worshiped beings gone to? Oblivion. That's the answer. Oblivion. All gone but one stood. Society. Because of society carries with total obedience the strongest message ever, that is “social conducts”. If there's one thing we love more than submitting to a higher power, it must and should be social conducts. You can disobey one or more of sacred rules processed by your religion, and it'll pass by like nothing. But dare you do the same with a social rule, and you'll be damned.

A handful certainty: We care about our social appearances more than we care about ourselves, our religion, and our entire lives. We'd do anything to seem more “Socially right”. Is that morally correct? Yes, perhaps it is. Is it acceptable from a religious point of view? Maybe not.

I do not have any aggression whatsoever against someone trying to appear morally or socially correct or proper. In the matter of fact, I am sure many of the religions out there and their respected Gods order their worshipers to do just that. But I have an issue with the size of the galaxy with people taking what's religiously right and do the absolute opposite because according to their society it is not!

Riddle me this... Where's the sense in that? There's no sense in that. The only way this would make sense if we accept that “Society” has become its own deity, and it's worshiped. A long-lasting form of paganism that time couldn't erase. Because in the past people worshiped stone statues, figures made of wood and social conduct. It doesn't matter when, where or why. It's always been the same.

Different religions came to fix society and to fix its people. To draw an outline of how a human being interacts with other human beings in both a morally and socially proper way. And so people did. They took that stretch for a while until their preferences got reset. People care about “fake” social appearances more than being correct. It's not the eyes of god that they fear, it's the eyes of man. Even those with no obvious faith or a specific belief fall into the same pit the rest of us crawled out of... Misleading social conduct.

Again I would pop the question... Where's the sense in that? I have no answer for that question. Maybe someone out there has one for me.
